What do you learn in a tantric massage workshop?
First-time participants often arrive with questions: What will happen? Can I do this? Will it feel awkward? Afterwards, many tell me it felt more comfortable and down-to-earth than they expected.
Attentive touch is something you can learn. Workshops offer a practical way to explore both giving and receiving.
Techniques and presence
You'll learn flowing strokes, still touch, light contact and different levels of pressure. You'll also practise structuring a massage and moving smoothly between areas of the body.
Underneath those techniques is attention to the person you're touching. You slow down, notice their responses and learn to listen with your hands.
What makes tantric touch different
A clear, practical setting
Some people expect something mysterious or overwhelming. In practice, there are explanations, demonstrations, opportunities to practise and tea during the break.
Knowing what an exercise involves helps you choose whether to take part. Clear agreements and a comfortable pace leave more room to explore.
Consent as a practical skill
You'll ask before touching and listen to the answer. You'll practise welcoming a no, communicating preferences and adjusting rather than assuming.
These skills matter to the person receiving and the person giving. You can ask for what feels comfortable without needing to protect someone else from disappointment.
Learning to receive
Receiving can be surprisingly unfamiliar. You may feel an urge to give something back, worry about doing it correctly or say something is fine when you'd prefer a change.
We'll practise noticing sensations and describing them: warmth, tingling, tension, softer, firmer or slower. Receiving gives you direct experience to bring to your own touch.
Sharing the practice at home
Giving can be nourishing too. Focusing on your hands, breathing and partner may help your thoughts settle.
Couples often describe learning a new language: a way of sharing touch without pressure or a particular outcome. It's something you can continue exploring together.
